In April 2020, Sean J. Abrams, DDS purchased Dr. Burcham’s dental practice. With Dr. Burcham’s nearing retirement date and after moving to Franklin from the Chicago area in June, Dr. Abrams officially took over the daily running of the practice as well as overseeing patient care. After Dr. Burcham’s official last day, Dr. Abrams rebranded the office to Downtown Franklin Family Dentistry. Dr. Abrams is proud to continue on Dr. Burcham’s legacy as Downtown Franklin’s Family Dentist. Soon, you will start to see the new name on a sign out front of our practice as well as the roll out of a brand new logo and website, but rest assured, our practice will remain the same home for dental care that you have come to know and love! Let’s learn a little more about Dr. Abrams!
A native of the Chicagoland area, Dr. Abrams is very excited to come to Franklin and join the team. His path to dentistry started at the University of Illinois where he earned a bachelor degree in animal science. He later went on to earn a certification in dental lab technology and in 2006, Dr. Abrams received a Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Immediately following dental school graduation, he joined Beloit Area Community Health Center in Beloit, WI where he practiced general dentistry treating underserved patients.
In 2008, Dr. Abrams began caring for patients at a busy family practice in Palatine, IL. In 2013, he then looked for an opportunity to run his own practice and joined the team at Village Smiles, in Elk Grove Village, IL.
Valuing patient relationships is top priority for Dr. Abrams. He enjoys working with patients of all ages and strongly believes that good patient education is the key to a healthy smile. His goal for each and every patient is to provide the most comprehensive care possible. This involves treating your dental needs with the best long-term outcome in mind.
Dr. Abrams has been a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, and the Chicago Dental Society. He frequently attends continuing education programs including the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education in Key Biscayne, FL.
On a personal note, Dr. Abrams is an advocate for greyhound adoption and enjoys watching sports and movies and spending time with his wife, daughter, and son.
Dr. Abrams says, “We are extremely excited for this new opportunity and to explore Tennessee! I can’t wait to meet all of you soon!”
