Welcome to Downtown Franklin Family Dentistry, where we believe in providing comprehensive dental care with a personal touch. We understand that visiting a new dentist can bring along some anxiety, so we’ve created this blog post to let you know exactly what to expect at your first appointment.
Even before you walk in the door, our staff is here to help. They will schedule your appointment, verify your insurance benefits, provide information about our convenient portal, and send your new patient forms to complete online, which will expedite your on site appointment.
From the moment you walk through our doors, our friendly staff will greet you and make you feel at home. If time allows, we’ll take you on an office tour to familiarize you with our state-of-the-art facilities in the cozy environment of our “home” in downtown Franklin. This is a great opportunity to meet our team, ask any questions you may have, and get comfortable in our welcoming environment.
To show our appreciation for choosing us as your dental care provider, all new patients receive a swag bag filled with goodies and helpful information about our practice. This is just a small token of our gratitude and commitment to making your dental experience enjoyable.
Your first appointment will typically last about 90 minutes. During this time, Dr. Abrams and our hygienist Jennifer will conduct a comprehensive exam that includes:
Head and Neck Examination: This helps us identify any potential issues outside of your mouth that could affect your oral health.
Oral Cancer Screening: Early detection is key in treating oral cancer effectively, so this screening is an essential part of your exam.
Full Set of X-Rays: These images allow us to see what’s happening beneath the surface of your teeth and gums.
Gum and Bone Health Assessment: This evaluation helps us prevent and manage periodontal disease.
Dentition Check: We’ll look for any signs of tooth decay, fractures, wear and any other conditions and discuss treatment options, if necessary.
Health History Review: Understanding your overall health and any medications you are taking helps us to provide you with the safest, most effective care.
Oral Health Education: We’ll discuss your current cleaning regimen, provide recommendations, and answer any questions you may have.
If your oral health is in good condition, we’ll also perform a cleaning during this appointment. However, if additional care is needed, we’ll schedule a follow-up appointment to ensure your oral health gets the attention it deserves.
Dr. Abrams takes pride in meeting each new patient personally. This one-on-one time is a chance for you to discuss any concerns or goals you have for your oral health. It’s also when any recommended treatments are discussed, so you can make informed decisions about your dental care.
At Downtown Franklin Family Dentistry, our goal is to provide you with exceptional dental care in a comfortable and friendly environment. We look forward to welcoming you to our practice and helping you achieve a healthy, beautiful smile. You can call our office or request an appointment on our website. If you have any questions before your first appointment, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to help!
