How Does Teeth Whitening Work?
You can think of teeth similarly to your skin. Teeth have tiny pores that absorb different foods and liquids that we consume. For example, coffee and dark wines stain teeth more than clear liquids such as water. To combat this, whitening gels can be directly applied to the teeth or placed into a whitening tray worn by a patient.
What are my Teeth Whitening options?
At Downtown Franklin Family Dentistry we offer three professional teeth whitening solutions that break down these stains to give you a brighter smile in no time.
For those who want to whiten their teeth on their own, our team at Downtown Franklin Family Dentistry offers professional-grade teeth whitening gels that you can apply directly to your teeth at home. These are applied in a thin layer and then placed into custom trays designed specifically for your mouth.
Another option we offer is a one size fits all tray that has the gel already loaded in the tray. This option is very easy to use and very convenient. These are called Go Trays and you can ask a team member more about this product.
The third option and quickest way to whiten is with our in-office whitening treatment. A gel is placed on the patient’s teeth for two separate twenty minute sessions during the same visit.
Whichever option you chose, hydrogen peroxide is the active ingredient in all of our products that removes the surface stains. The strength of the hydrogen peroxide determines how quickly the stains will be removed.
How Do I Know if Teeth Whitening is Right for Me?
There are some instances where teeth whitening may not be right for all patients. We recommend visiting Downtown Franklin Family Dentistry and meeting with Dr. Abrams. During your appointment, Dr. Abrams will go over your dental history and see if one of our teeth whitening solutions is right for you. Call our office at 615.595.6111 for information today.
